FonePaw iPhone Data Recovery is a tool to reclaim contacts, message, videos and much more.

iPhone Data Recovery is a program for Mac and Windows that can help you reclaim files that you have inadvertently deleted or have misplaced. The program scans devices quickly and can examine attached storage as well as built-in storage. Once the scan is complete, the UI will show you all of the files found, and these files will be organized by broad categories, such as Media and Messages & Contacts, and subcategories, such as Camera Roll, Photo Library and App Photos under Media. You can search for files, view previews and select and deselect files individually and in bulk.

When it comes to scanning and recovering, you have multiple options. The most straightforward is the direct recover. You just need to connect your iDevice—iPads, iPhones and iPods are all supported—via a Lightning-to-USB cable or a wireless method. Your second option is to reclaim from iTunes, which is even faster in most cases and a great option if your device has been regularly backed up. Backing up from iCloud is a bit different since you have to download the backup file. You’ll then open that file on your computer, and you can then restore select files or all of them.

There are many situations where this app is useful. Accidentally deleting a file or misplacing is just one. Other scenarios include factory resets, system problems, forgotten passcodes, stolen devices, water damage, broken screens and so forth. In addition, the file support is expansive and includes browser bookmarks, browser histories, calendars, call histories, notes, reminders, videos, voicemails, WhatsApp attachments and so on.

This download is a trial version of FonePaw iPhone Data Recovery. It allows you to scan your device, peruse recoverable files and reclaim a certain amount. The trial is fully featured, but once you hit the limit, the trial ceases to function, and you’ll need to upgrade to a paid license. We found the licenses to be on the pricey side and limited in terms of number of unique devices allowed, but there are family licenses and the like.

Our experience with the file scanner was mostly positive. But there are a number of user reviews online that complain about the effectiveness of recovery. We’d take those as a word of caution if you are considering this app as a way to recover files from local storage that were lost or deleted an extended time ago.
